Kos has new diary on Webb - front page

As of 1pm, Kos has written a new diary urging the DKos faithful to contribute to Webb’s campaign. Here’s the link: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/7/27/133529/285

My own contribution to that thread has been to complain that I’ve seen little (or nothing) from the local party leadership to suggest that they are involved in Webb’s campaign. No LTEs, few yard-signs (I got mine from Brian Patton, thank you - I’m out now - can I get some more?). Although fund-raising is clearly important (especially against Allen’s millions), we need to make better use of existing party structure. And we need to coordinate better between the Boucher campaign and Webb’s appearances in the 9th-district.

Hi, Brian,

I just heard from Lowell Field that they will have more yard signs after Labor Day - this is not good.

Also do you know who’s responsible for staffing a Dem booth at the Wise Fair? You can bet that Allen will be well-represented there… it’s in two weeks, you know.

The Wise Fair:

This is a very good question. The Dickenson County Democratic Committee is sponsoring a table at the Dickenson County Fair next week.

An attorney in Norton, Hugh ODonnell, is also interested in getting a booth at the Wise Fair.

We all need to get together on this and make it happen. I have a good bit of materials we could hand out, but we need to make sure the Wise or Norton Committees are not already sponsoring a table. If they are, we can just help them and make sure they have Webb stuff.

I want to pass on a telephone conversation I had this morning(Sunday 8-13-06). The caller knew I had been active in supporting democrats in Patrick County, and he wanted to know why we weren’t seeing Webb signs. He had been to Northern Virginia to visit his grown children and he expressed concern that Allen and Virgil Goode had their locations “signed” but there were no Webb displays.

I offered the money excuse and promised to pass his concerns on to whomever I could. He said he had received a bumper sticker and was going to put it on BEFORE he left for church.

I fear Webb’s strategy will be to work in voter rich NVa and fail to work to get the 40% he needs in SWVa to win the race. George Allen has been popular here but I believe, sincerely, that there are plenty of us here who will vote democrat if we can give them a good reason AND ask for their vote.
