The Democratic Women of Roanoke’s third annual picnic will be held on Friday, 8/22/08 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the picnic pavilion behind the American Legion at 710 Apperson Drive in Salem.
This will be a great event. All regional Democrats are invited. There will be a DJ playing music, plenty of good food and drinks, and elected Democrats and candidates including Sam Rasoul.
This event will also be an opportunity for campaigns to recruit volunteers, and for volunteers to learn about the many opportunities to help our party this year. There will be representatives of the Obama, Warner and Rasoul campaigns who will be happy to get you signed up to help.
There will be many campaign activities throughout the weekend, so please plan to sign up to participate in whatever you can do. It would be great to see this picnic jump-start volunteerism among local Democrats and get a record turn-out of volunteers over the weekend.
Cost? Free if you bring a potluck dish to pass, $5 if you don’t. It’s a bargain. This is not a fundraiser–it’s a fun event intended to help rally our enthusiasm at this critical point. We need to do all we can to take our country back from the past 7+ years of poor leadership, and it all starts locally.
